Hitting the Perfect Stride

Every person knows what it feels like to hit the perfect stride, regardless if you are a runner or not. It is that moment when you feel everything fall into place like clockwork. It can be at your job, in a meeting, in your personal life, whatever the circumstances might be, it's when you find your "sweet spot." I was a little sore yesterday and didn't really feel like running, but I laced up my tennis shoes like I do everyday and made myself go for what I thought would be a quick run. As I increased the speed on the treadmill, I felt everything fall away. There was no pressure for time. I didn't feel like I needed to be doing anything else, but running. My heart, head and body became perfectly aligned and I felt myself hit the perfect stride. It was the best feeling and it was one that I hadn't felt in years. I didn't think about bills, boyfriends, jobs, moving... I didn't think about anything, I just ran. There was no heavy weight holding me back. It felt so good to be light again- heart, mind, body and soul.

One lucky Apple

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. ”

An {old} Favorite

I tore this editorial out of Instyle's May 2006 issue years ago. When I came across it again this morning, I still found myself pouring over the photos. There is something so sweet and simple about these pictures and of course Rachel Bilson is beautiful!

Finally...

Yes, it's finally spring! And since I don't usually like to get too excited about anything before it actually happens, I've been waiting until I can actually wear sandals to talk about them. This past weekend was the first time I've slipped on sandals since I can't even remember when. I even had my toes painted pink... yeah, what can I say? I've been anticipating the excitement of spring for weeks...
White dresses, sandals, flowers, trees...
I love Spring and I am very happy it's finally here!

A Spring Salad

Strawberry spinach salads are probably one of my favorite things to eat as soon as it turns spring. I love this recipe, except I usually substitute goat cheese for the blue cheese... Of course it is up to you which one you prefer!
Ingredients
1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
2 (6-oz.) bags baby spinach
1 (16-oz.) container strawberries, quartered
1 (4-oz.) package crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup sliced toasted almonds
Bottled red wine vinaigrette
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Preparation
1. Toss together red onion and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Drizzle with red wine vinaigrette; sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Sweet, Simple and Down-to-Earth

Weddings, I feel are sometimes fairly over-done. I love the idea of this wedding. Everything from the bride's wrap to the groom's tie, even the apples on the table... It is all perfect and simple.

Around the World...

With the Sartorialist...

Let me just start off prefacing this book review by saying, "Wow." This memoir was the most entertaining book I have read in years. I started it Friday night and finished yesterday (Sunday). You wouldn't have been able to pry it away from my fingertips if you tried.

"Undress me in the Temple of Heaven," takes you through a journey. It was a journey that commenced with hope... hope for all things to come. But when two 22 year old girls set out for the backpacking trip of a lifetime, their hope dwindled. Far away from everything they knew, they struggled to hold on to something- their identity.

This book takes you far away from everything familiar. Susan Jane Gilman does a wonderful job making the reader a third backpacker on this trip. As Susie and Claire trekked through China, I was on the edge of my seat... turning the pages as quickly as possible.

Bottom Line: READ IT!!! I promise you won't want to put it down.

“You see, you closed your eyes. That was the difference. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too—even when you’re in the dark. Even when you’re falling.”
— Mitch Albom
