Office: Inspiration

I love interior designer, Summer Thornton's office which was recently featured in CS Interiors. There is nothing better than walking into an office, that transcends you into a place of inspiration and creativity, but also allows you to feel comfortable in the space you're working in.

I would love my own office to look like this! Wishful thinking!

All of Summer's designs are incredible. I highly suggest looking at her website, HERE.

The Great Outdoors

When I came across Kelly and Britian's wedding on Once Wed, I was immediately in love with the ambiance.
Looking at pictures, literally gave my heart butterflies. Glen Allsop's photography is beautiful.

Good Morning, Friday

There are times in life when certain things just don't count...
This is a hilarious and delightfully charming post from Garance Dore. Enjoy!

This Post Doesn’t Count
So I was gettin’ drunk having a drink with Emily at the Jane Hotel, and we got to talking about life philosophies and all, just as any normal person would after two vodka-tonics (after the third, we move on to sex)(no, not with Emily, just that the conversation turns to sex)(Wouldn’t yours?) when I asked her... click here to Read more...

Three Branches Healthy Living

Okay, so with all of the information about nutrition and health at our disposal today, I can't help but notice all the contradictions out there. Do I eat meat? Do I not eat meat? What about soy, what about vitamins? There are a thousand questions that I have all the time and everyone seems to have a different answer for them. When I first stumbled across Three Branches Healthy Living, it was because I was writing about Allison, one of the founders for our bridal magazine (Houston Brides). But, what I quickly came to realize was how her company, vision and insight made sense to me. Chemicals= Bad. Whether toxins are in our food or in the air that we breathe, toxins are very harmful to our bodies. You may be thinking, "duh," but what many people aren't aware of is how overly processed we have become. Allison and Kelly with the help, knowledge and inspiration of their mentor Marilee Nelson, have created an informative website to share what they have learned.

I have poured over the Three Branches Healthy Living site for months now, and it continues to not only make sense, but it also provides information that enables me to make better, more informed choices--from food to my face cleansers!

What's the mission, you might ask... These three women have set out "To empower individuals and families to make choices that significantly improve their quality of life by providing information and products that promote a healthy home and body."

Happy Friday!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Lately, all I've wanted to do is dance...

Hope everyone gets to do something they want to do this weekend.

Dance, sing, paint, cook, read, dance some more, listen to music, take a bath, sit by the fire... it all sounds lovely to me!

Scott Schuman: The Man Behind the Lens

The Sartorialist from Amsterdam Worldwide on Vimeo.

Scott Schuman's blog, The Sartorialist, has been one of my favorite websites since I graduated college in 2004. I don't remember how I found it. I just remember being blown away by the simplistic style in which Scott captures the moment. He has a gift. His eyes are open everyday as he takes in the world around him. I love what he says about going out into the world and letting yourself "fall in love a little bit everyday."

Hope you all enjoy the video as much as I did. I've been meaning to post it for a few days... sorry for the delay!

And Graham Crackers are mmm...Good

Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere always whips up some of the best treats! When I came across her homemade graham crackers this morning, I was so excited. I'm not sure I will actually attempt to make them, but they are one of my favorite things to eat. I love this perfectly sweet treat with greek yogurt, peanut butter or dunked in milk! To get the recipe, click HERE.

She also talks about the first time she went to the grocery store, by herself in college. I had the exact same feeling the first time I went-- the one where you realize you can by anything you want. My grocery cart was always full of graham crackers!
Such a cute post, Emily!

Travel Chic

My dears, I was supposed to be flying out of NYC, but instead my editor and I decided not to go on our trip...
We were afraid of getting stuck in the airport, and in return not be able to make it to our other obligations later in the week.
I hope no one is stuck in airport, but if you are... I have been there many times. I wasn't looking as chic and do I dare say comfortable (?)... as the girl in this picture, that's for sure!

Talking Health.

With the beginning of the New Year comes resolutions... and many people vow to lose weight.
I say, let's try not to focus on the weight. The more I focus on the weight, the more frustrated and hopeless it becomes.
About two years ago, I went on a backpacking trip to the Western Himalayas and it has, since then, continued to influence my view on how much food my body actually needs, as well as what kind of foods give it the most energy.

I lived off of lentils with curry, dal, rice, pasta and chocolate for 5 1/2 weeks and my body had never felt better. Now, I'm not saying we should all adhere to this type of diet, but what I am saying is that I didn't have a scale. Instead, I simply learned how to listen to my body.

As the new year begins I am going to try my best to limit my intake of sugar and processed foods.
I am going to incorporate more proteins, whole grains and vegetables. I would say fruit, but I already consume enough fruit to float a boat!

Bundled in Laughter

I love this picture! It can't be denied that one of the best things about life are the friends that hang out and hang in there with you along the way.

One of my New Year's Resolutions: Appreciating the wonderful people who have been there for me no matter what.

Happy hump day everyone! It's snowing here in Breckenridge... Brr!
