Into The Gloss

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was very relaxing, which was exactly what I needed!
Today, I have to run some errands for my mom and I have got to re-stock my makeup supply. I am completely out of some basics, (ie mascara). Makeup can be a funny thing. I have been wearing the same makeup for years. I stick to tried and true when it comes to the everyday, but sometimes it is nice to spice things up. Do you have a face/makeup regime? I have been reading Emily Weiss's blog Into The Gloss, lately and find it to be a great little beauty report. Everyone tends to like different products. I have extremely sensitive skin, usually I wash my face with warm water, and take my makeup off with Johnson's baby oil. I also love JASON'S Chamomile Satin Soap. Do you have any products you love? Spill your beauty secrets... : )

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Happy Friday!

It's Friday and a long weekend... I hope everyone has a great one! I am looking forward to having no plans. In the midst of a busy schedule, sometimes I focus on the stress and forget to be grateful. I am so thankful for so many things. This weekend, don't forget to stop and be thankful for something.

Hope all of you have a great one! And thanks for stopping by... : )

Trust the Experience.

My brother and I were talking last night about how life unfolds in funny, surprising ways and how each experience has led us to exactly where we are now. Just a reminder that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

One of my favorite excerpts:
"Gather experiences. The purpose of the journey is not to guard and restrain yourself. The purpose is to learn. You do not teach and lead your soul. Your soul leads and teaches you... It takes you down winding, narrow roads and along fast-moving, highways. It takes you into tiny cafes, bustling cities, and out-of-the-way hostels where people break bread and tell what they have learned.
Let yourself have all your experiences. Don't limit or judge yourself on the adventures you have had. All were necessary, all were important, all have helped shape and form you. Your heart will lead you, guide you where you are to go. Don't worry about getting lost or off track. Don't worry about being wrong, or in the wrong places at the wrong time. Listen while others tell their stories, their adventures, and show you the truths they have learned. Open your heart and joyfully share what has happened to you along the way." - Journey to the Heart, Melody Beattie

Be grateful for each experience.

Beach Weekend

Happy Monday afternoon! I apologize for my lack of posting/updates. I left on Thursday for a 5-day tip to Mexico for a wedding that was on Saturday and I just got back this morning. It was beautiful. The ocean was perfect. The weekend was full of lots of eating, partying, dancing... I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Back to reality... well maybe, not until tomorrow. I think I will take the day to unpack, hang with my doggie and catch up with emails, phone calls, etc. Happy day and happy to be back with all of you! : )

Naturally...

Sorry for the delayed post today! I am loving this editorial... there is something very natural about it and a little sultry.

Happy Monday Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was spent hanging out and relaxing, catching up on sleep. I went and saw Bridesmaids last night. I laughed throughout the entire movie, uncontrollably (I even woke up this morning laughing). Needless to say, grab your girlfriends and go... we decided that it is probably The Hangover for girls. The trailer doesn't do it justice.

Happy Yoga

I am loving the book, Happy Yoga. I picked it up at my yoga studio and while there are some parts I'm not sure about... (ie. Raw food diet), it does have some really great things to say.

PS- Sorry it took me so long to post today, my mind was on overload for a bit and I believe I stared at so many stories all day long, words were running together until I couldn't form sentences. I do have to admit though, sometimes it feels really good to be too tired from a lot of work. Hopefully, it pays off!

Busy Wednesday

We have been busy wrapping up our bridal issue this week, and have undoubtedly been confined to our office. But, it isn't too bad... however, I would much rather be sitting at a desk like this one, with these bookshelves!

The Beginning...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday. Do you ever feel like you are completely out of your comfort zone? I recently started taking Spanish classes and when I was leaving my class last night, my instructor and I were talking about fear and how fear can affect your life, especially when you find yourself afraid of making mistakes. I was talking to her about all the mistakes that I make in class ALL the time (I am the slowest one)! But, she said to me, "Sara, you can not learn if you never make mistakes. You can't do anything if you don't mess up every now and then." She said that she used to feel like she was going to die if she made mistakes, and didn't speak well and that's how I feel! The most important thing she told me, is that you try. "Try your best and you will find out that you won't die, people won't love you any less if you are not perfect and when you are out of your comfort zone, you are learning."

So, if you ever feel out of your comfort zone, just remember that it's a good thing. Be willing to make mistakes. Be willing to mess up (I will try)! Because I believe it's true, that you will not die and people will not love you or think any less of you. Have a little fun... one of the hardest things to do is not judge ourselves, but at some point I believe we all have to make the commitment to love ourselves enough to try new things, even when it gets tough and sometimes uncomfortable!

Something Fresh

I have a really busy schedule this week, but I've been craving really fresh food, so I went to the store today and stocked up on avocados, lemons, limes, tomatoes and I am thinking that one day this week I will try to make this salmon recipe for dinner. It looks so good!

Check out the recipe here, on Laylita's recipes.

Mother's Day Weekend

Usually, I always go home for Mother's day, but this year it is right in the middle of work craziness, so there isn't any way I can escape for the weekend. Since I can't be with my mom on Mother's day I will be sending lots of love her way + some flowers.

I miss sitting around our breakfast table having brunch and sitting in the living room with my mom reading magazines. Can't wait for a trip home, hopefully next month!

I'm pretty sure no matter how old I get, I will always love coming home to my parents house.

Do you Believe...

... in fairytales?

As I have settled into my week, I have finally had time to take in the wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton. I have to say that it is one for the books. She did everything right, and nothing was out of place. From her perfectly designed, Alexander McQueen dress to their cake, Middleton didn't disappoint the many viewers who watched the Prince and, now Princess exchange their vows.

Again, Congratulations to the sweet couple! They look truly happy and truly in love.

The wedding looked like a fairytale. A true fairytale.

A Little Elegance

Designer, Katie Ermillo lent her home and studio for this shoot with model, Rosie Tupper. I love the elegant design and the wide open studio space with old hardwood floors and her clothing pieces go right along with her home. They are structured, detailed, yet they aren't fussy. There is a simplicity to them that lends a certain amount of grace. Love it.

Prints & Lucite

I love an array of prints and I even love the lucite chair, that I would originally view as a little modern for my taste... but, somehow this look works. Everything is tied into each other in different ways. The chairs, table, light fixtures and artwork are all different styles, different backgrounds, different colors, but they all compliment each other very nicely. What do you think?

Feeling Overwhelmed...

Do you ever have those days when it seems like you can't get anything done and you have a thousand things to do. Well, I am having one of those days! But, that's the way it goes sometimes...

As I melt back into reality I have to say, that I like it much more than I like Vegas! But, a weekend with your best friends is priceless.

Happy Monday, everyone!
